How to Have a Successful First Meeting with Parents

18 April 20265 min read

The first meeting is an interview for both sides. Your goal is not simply to make a good impression, but to understand whether you can work with this family calmly and based on clear agreements.

How to Prepare

  • Arrive on time and put your phone on silent mode.
  • Prepare two specific examples from your previous work experience.
  • Ask about the child's daily routine, allergies, and restrictions.
  • Review the payment, working hours, and trial-day conditions aloud once again.

When Interacting with the Child

Do not rush to hug the child. Sit at their level, introduce yourself by name, and wait for their response. Parents pay close attention at this moment to see whether you notice and understand the child's signals.

At the end of the meeting, summarize the agreement: what you will do during the first week and when you will confirm the arrangements in writing. A clear ending is often more trustworthy than long promises.
